Mostrom & Chase Handweavers

We celebrate the life and mourn the peaceful passing of Fred W. Chase IV on September 12, 2025. Fred was my husband and partner, devoted to his family and dedicated to his craft. ​

 

Fred was the energy of Mostrom & Chase Handweavers: the tinkerer, fixer and innovator who always worked to improve the efficiency in our craft. He built the looms, dyed the cotton colors, warped the beams, hand-designed and printed our maker-tags as well as wove our Leno Lace tableware. He was known as a "character," a story-teller, humorist and a man of many interests and abilities.

 

​Fred and I worked together, side by side, for 50 years. Our extraordinary journey has been full of challenges, adventures and many incredible people. Our life together was woven with love for each other and pride in our work. He liked to say, "the work will save you" and, to that end, I intend to continue what we started with our daughter, Emily, by my side.  

Together, we will continue to honor Fred’s legacy and all the ways—both big and small—he shaped our family, our business, and our lives.
